How to install tyserver.ppc.sh This package contains the Tivo side daemons necessary for remote editing and remote retrieval of TyStreams. You will need to FTP the tyserver.ppc.sh over to your Tivo. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you transfer this file in BINARY MODE. This is how to do it in the command line FTP client present in Linux/Windows/Mac: ftp [login stuff] cd /var bin put tyserver.ppc.sh quit You can now telnet to your tivo and type "bash /var/tyserver.ppc.sh" (or wherever else you may have uploaded tyserver.ppc.sh) this will start the installation, and all you need to do is answer three simple questions. You can just hit enter at each question and it will pick the default option - this will install the programs in the right location and launch tyserver and tyindex, as well as automaticaly configure your rc.sysinit. Your origional rc.sysinit will be backed up automaticaly by the script if you opt to change it. Note, if you run the installer a second time, (e.g. to upgrade) it will *not* attempt to configure the rc.sysinit again. Tyserver and tyindex are now ready to use - however it will take some time to index each recording. This is the purpose of the tyindex daemon, it indexes the streams in advance so that when it comes time for editing, you don't have to wait. That said, it would be a good idea to wait at least a few hours after installing the tyserver before you do remote editing on your tivo. We also STRONGLY suggest that you don't do any remote editing if you see that there is no index available in the now showing list in TyEditor. In this case, it would be much faster to just download it first instead. - The TyStudio Team
